After the skills focus on strict pull-ups and weighted pull-ups over the past couple months it’s great to see the improvements on pull-ups today for so many. This is a basic bodyweight movement everyone should work into their warm-up or post workout at least once a week.

Deadlifts and pull-ups yesterday definitely effected snatches for some today. That said it was still good to get the work in and focus on technique improvement through both parts of the WOD.

Saer approves of max day after a 53″ standing box jump!

Thumbs Up

Recently it was brought up that we haven’t had a “fun” day in a while. One of those days where you get to try different stuff, test out a max, see what you can do. So today was a max effort day where you got to choose a lift, then pick as many skills, movements or sprints that you wanted to try. We have some pretty awesome snatching, running, and jumping FOOLS in here! I have also decided some of you will no longer be allowed to use less than at least a 36″ box jump for “RX” workouts.

Most importantly, it appears as if Rob S. set a world record standing box jump at 67 and 1/2 inches! Or did he…

Tuesday was a great day. Not only were there a bunch of PR’s on C&J’s throughout the day there was also a very cool drop-in visitor in the afternoon classes. Jenny LaBaw, 2 times CrossFit Games competitor in 2011 (6th place overall) and 2012 dropped in for the 6pm class! That is certainly no everyday drop-in visitor.

Unfortunately I wasn’t there to meet her but Michelle said she was extremely friendly, cheered others on, took pictures and paid a very nice compliment to our gym by saying “I’ve been to a lot of boxes and this place is so friendly and really inviting.” That is a testament to the community within our affiliate and the way everyone welcomes new people and treats others. Thanks Squatchers for making our gym a place to be proud of!

Over the Shoulder(s):

Press_Over the Shoulder

Great work on the strict press today. This is one lift where every little adjustment makes or breaks that barbell path as it goes up off the shoulders. Knowing when to breathe, how to stay tight, grip, elbow and hand position etc. must be consistent or you will stall.

Conditioning workout worthy of an Open WOD:

Notes:

Congrats to Anna S. for achieving her 500th WOD yesterday!

Rob and Rona just came back from the CrossFit Tour Big Sky Montana Affiliate Gathering. Here’s a good write up of what they watched over the past weekend. Sounds like a ton of CrossFit fun.
